Get your boating licence -it's the law for all ages!

I absolutely love spending time on the waters. There is nothing more relaxing then spending time enjoying a ride on the beautiful open waters. I am not alone. Boaters in Canada who still don't have their Ontario Boating License can receive an expensive fine.

Do you have your Ontario Pleasure Craft Operator Card

Since 2010, all Canadians are required to hold a valid card in all provinces across Canada. This boat license card is issued by Transport Canada and is valid in Ontario as well as all other provinces. There is no special license required for boating in Ontario, so as long as you hold your card you can enjoy the beautiful waterways of Ontario with extra safety and peace of mind.

Common misconceptions about this law are that children must be 16 yrs to get certified and that seniors over 65 yrs don't require the card. This law applies to boaters of all ages; there are no age exemptions or minimum age to get certified. Others think that you don't need the card if your motor is less than 10 horsepower, but in fact it's needed to operate any size motor, even an electric motor on a canoe for example.

So now that you are prepared, please enjoy your summer on the waves!
